There is much conjecture as to the true origins of Ear Candles (called Ear Cones in centuries past), but the first evidence of their use dates back to the Ancient Egyptians in 2500BC.

The evidence points to the use of papyrus reeds, corn stalks and other hollowed implements. There have been many variations through the ages and even in modern times, paper (sometimes newspaper), was rolled and dipped in wax to form a crude candle.

There is also evidence of the use of Ear Coning in Greece, the Americas and Asia, particularly China, where ancient scrolls show evidence of them being used for healing procedures. In Greece they were used for both spiritual and physical healing.

The modern Ear Candle has been refined, but there are still many low-grade imitations, that use ingredients not accepted in the industry, such as paraffin (a petroleum-based product) being mixed into the wax.

It is very important to ensure that Ear candling instructions are followed and proper safety procedures are adhered to.
